The Marlin Message: Week of 5/12
Good evening Marlin families,
We’ve had a great first two days at practice! Our youngest Marlin swimmers have done a great job learning the foundations of freestyle swimming, while our oldest Marlins had a great first dryland workout today.
Here is our first edition for this season’s “Marlin Message”, my weekly newsletter containing important information, updates, and reminders pertaining to the week ahead. Please read through this message and let me know if you have any questions.
Coaching Staff
We are excited to welcome back Jackson Irvine, Chloe Lake, Isabella Patacca, and Lorelei Schatz to our coaching staff for the 2026 summer swim season!
Additionally, we are excited to announce the two newest members of our coaching staff for the 2026 summer swim season. Kailyn Harris and Sydney Rose, two long-time Marlin swimmers and senior helpers, will come on deck as assistant coaches starting on June 1st! Both Kailyn and Sydney bring a wealth of experience as both swimmers and instructors, and their ability to positively interact with our youngest Marlin swimmers will make them great members of our coach staff.
Welcome aboard Kailyn and Sydney!
Trash Pickup and Popsicles
This Friday, we will be holding a team-wide service event from 5:00p-6:00p. To show our support and gratitude for the greater FoxCreek community, all Marlin swimmers are invited to help pick up trash around the pool area and neighborhood. Swimmers are asked to arrive to the pool by 5:00p for the service event; they will split off in groups to clean up the neighborhood before returning to the pool around 5:50p for popsicles. This is a great way for our younger and older swimmers to get to know one another and continue to foster our team’s top-to-bottom culture that we’ve built over the years.
Practice This Saturday
A reminder that we will have an optional bonus practice this Saturday, May 16th. Quest Swimming is allowing the use of their bubbled facility for the whole team to have the opportunity to get in the water while we wait for the outdoor pool to warm up.
- Swimmers aged 10 and under will practice from 5:00p-6:00p
- Swimmers aged 11 and older will practice from 6:00p-7:00p
Parent Meeting
We will be holding a parent meeting on Monday, June 1st at the FoxCreek pool starting at 6:00p. During this meeting we will be going over team expectations, meet expectations, volunteer requirements and jobs, and additional information for the 2026 summer swim season.
Dual Meet Schedule
Here is our dual meet schedule for the 2026 summer swim season:
- Week 1 – Tuesday, June 9 – Vs. Tarrington
- Week 2 – Tuesday, June 16 – At Magnolia Green
- Week 3 – Tuesday, June 23 – At Harpers Mill
- Week 4 – Tuesday, June 30 – Vs. Waveriders
- Week 5 – Tuesday, July 7 – At Hallsley
- Week 6 – Monday, July 13 – Vs. Woodland Poind
This season, all dual meets will start promptly at 6:00p. Home dual meets will have swimmers report to the pool deck by 4:30p, while away dual meets will have swimmers report to the pool deck by 5:00p.
Swimmers are required to attend a minimum of two dual meets to participate in champs. We encourage swimmers to attend every meet they are available to so they can be a contributor to the team’s overall success, demonstrate their season-long growth, and be a part of the fun that makes the Marlin swim team a great summer experience!
Meet Signup
Registration for all dual meets this season is now open on our team website.
To declare your swimmer’s intent to compete in a meet, you must register on our team website. Log into your Swimtopia account on our team website and go to the “Meets and Events” tab. Find the corresponding meet that you wish to declare for and select “Meet Entry.” Set the status for each swimmer as either “Attending” or “Not Attending.” If you knowingly cannot attend a meet, please be sure to set your status to “Not Attending” to properly notify the coaching staff.
You may select up to three individual entries for your swimmers to compete in. Select the event(s) that you would like your swimmer to participate in, though note that the coaching staff has the final say on entries and may modify swimmer selected entries for competitive purposes. If you do not select any entries, then the coaching staff will select events on your swimmer’s behalf. You may also leave a note for the coaching staff regarding any entry considerations.
For each dual meet, the deadline to declare for a meet is the Wednesday the week before the meet date. For example, the Tarrington meet held on Tuesday, June 9th will have a deadline to register by midnight on Wednesday, June 3rd.
Signup for volunteer jobs will open on June 1st.
As always, please reach out to me if you have any questions. You may reach me at [email protected]. Thank you again for a great start to our season!
Coach Nick
